Rejection – it's an uncomfortable feeling, but unfortunately, an inevitable part of the job search.
It's hard not to feel deflated when you don't get called for an interview, or you get the dreaded "not this time" message from a recruiter. However, it would be a mistake to avoid going for jobs out of a fear of rejection, career coach Emily Liou tells CNBC Make It.
Her advice? Don't care so much.
Liou says you should adopt a state of detachment when job hunting and not take rejection personally. She also recommends drawing up a "brag list" – your accomplishments, projects you're proud of, or positive personality traits – to remind yourself why you are an amazing hire.
